Serving Opportunities at Grace Bible Church
Children's Ministry and Childcare
A Snapshot of What You'd Do: These team members care for children and their families by loving the children as Christ loves them, helping tend to their spiritual needs by teaching them foundational truths of the gospel through lessons, songs, and activities, meeting their physical needs by feeding them snacks, changing diapers or escorting them to the restroom as needed, and keeping them safe by accepting background checks, watching sexual abuse awareness training videos, and agreeing to follow our policies manual. We have opportunities to serve children from newborns to 12-year-olds on both Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights; we try to limit volunteers to only serving once per month, unless they commit to teaching a core seminar (i.e., Sunday School class) during the 10:00 hour on Sunday mornings (which typically is a semesterly commitment). Emma's Friends (Special Needs Ministry)
A Snapshot of What You'd Do: These team members serve as "buddies" on Sunday mornings for children with special needs. Buddies will stay with the child in their regular Sunday School room or in our sensory-friendly room. The buddy is the child’s friend and advocate and will help the child navigate Sunday mornings in a safe, respectful, and joyful way. To learn more about Emma's Friends, just click here.

Student Ministry
A Snapshot of What You'd Do: These team members seek to disciple students in 7th to 12th grade through faithful biblical instruction, fostering Christian community, and forming students into godly young men and women. Volunteers in the student ministry would be asked to regularly meet with a small group of students and develop organic connections with them and their families. Our regular Sunday night meeting is a crucial part of this ministry, but there are numerous other ways members might serve in this ministry: providing meals on Sunday night, chaperoning trips, sponsoring students' costs for trips, inviting families and students to your homes, and more. Connections (Guest Services)
A Snapshot of What You'd Do: These team members serve as greeters and ushers and welcome guests as they enter the doors of Grace Bible Church. They hand them all materials needed for the service (e.g., bulletin, sermon notes, flyers, etc.), help collect and count the offering each week, and direct people to the overflow spaces when required.
Next Steps: Our leaders for this team are Jay and Jessica Lynch. You can e-mail them by clicking here.
Parking Team
A Snapshot of What You'd Do: These team members help direct and park our visitors upon their arrival for the Sunday morning worship service. They also serve as first communicators to our security team should any issues be observed outside the church property. They help take down all signage and cones after the service. Next Steps: Our leaders for this team are Grant McCullough and J.D. Morton. You can sign up to serve by filling out this form.
Welcome Decor and Design
A Snapshot of What You'd Do: These team members have many different levels of involvement. Some may choose to simply donate flowers, which may be in dedication or memory of someone within the context of Grace Bible Church. Others can donate fresh stems to help with the church's flower arrangements and/or complete said arrangements. Some may also manage a month of responsibility for the decoration and design of the main church building.
Next Steps: Our leader for this team is Lara Barkley. You can e-mail her by clicking here. To donate flowers, contact Kelsey Hason at (504) 442-0806.
Sanctuary Hospitality
A Snapshot of What You'd Do: These team members serve in the church sanctuary before and during the Sunday morning service to ensure that our first-time guests, especially, have a good first visit. They will introduce themselves, share more about the church, answer questions, and coordinate the distribution of our visitor gift bags. Once the service starts, they help seat guests during the first half of our service, which is especially needed on those busier Sundays. With the Connections Team, they'll also help direct people to the overflow spaces when required. Learn more about what serving on this team looks like by clicking here.
Next Steps: Our leader for this team is M.C. Simons. You can apply to serve by filling out this form.
Musicians and Vocalists
A Snapshot of What You'd Do: These team members are an auditioned group of people who exercise their musical and vocal gifts to ensure a sense of non-distracting excellence in the musical worship portion of the service each Sunday. The vocalists are team members who are passionate about leading the congregation in singing, with the hope to unite all voices together to declare, in song, the truths that will be taught later in the service; musicians come alongside the vocalists to make the truth of the gospel expressive and, overall, helpful to the felt response as we sing of the Lord’s faithfulness.
Next Steps: Our leader for this team is Jared Smith. You can apply to serve by filling out this form.
Audio and Visual Team
A Snapshot of What You'd Do: These team members possess expertise in various aspects of audio and visual technology. These individuals are passionate about their faith and have a deep desire to use their technical skills to serve their congregation. Roles within the team include sound engineers, camera operators, and livestream operators. Sound engineers are responsible for ensuring that the worship service’s audio elements, including music, speaking, and prayers, are clear and balanced. They manage microphones, sound systems, and audio mixing equipment to create a non-distracting experience for the congregation. For livestreaming and recording, our camera operators are essential. They capture the worship service, sermons, and other church events to be posted on the church website, YouTube, Vimeo, and other social media platforms.
Next Steps: Our leaders for this team are Britt Fitts and Jacob Plott. You can apply to serve by filling out this form.
Coffee Team
A Snapshot of What You'd Do: These team members are willing to show up early to make sure enough coffee is made before the 8:45 service so that everyone attending Grace has that extra boost before serving in the church and attending the worship service. They also help ensure that proper clean-up and breakdown is completed after the service to prepare for the next week's meeting.
