C.J. was born in Grenada, Mississippi and attended Mississippi State University where he met his wife, Cassandra. He later earned an M.Div. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Th.M. in Applied Theology and Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he also serves as an Adjunct Professor. Prior to serving at Grace, C.J. served in church- and campus-based student ministry in Mississippi for six years and then as one of the pastors at Liberty Baptist Church in the Kansas City area for three years. He’s also served in seminary administration and as a mid-term missionary in East Asia with the International Mission Board. He and Cassandra have three children: Jemma, Luke, and Lottie.
