An Overview of the Membership Process

Joining Grace Bible Church is a multi-step process. It starts with our "Discovery Class," which is held every 6-8 weeks after the Sunday morning worship service. It includes lunch and childcare and usually lasts about ninety minutes. The date for the next class is provided in each week’s Sunday morning bulletin. The class is informal and, we hope, enjoyable. During the Discovery Class, you will have the opportunity to talk with two of our elders about anything and everything having to do with our church. They will share with you who we are at Grace, what we believe, how to get involved, and the responsibilities of membership. It’s also an opportunity to get to know the leadership at Grace and to build relationships with others in our church before you join.

If you aren’t sure whether or not you would like to join Grace but would like to learn more about the church, please join us for the Discovery Class anyway. Attending the class does not obligate you to join our church, but it is necessary if you choose to do so.

Once you have completed the Discovery Class, you will then need to meet with one of the elders of our church. During this meeting, you will have the opportunity to share your testimony about how you became a Christian. We will also ask that you sign our church covenant. After you complete the elder interview, we will present your name for a vote of affirmation at the next scheduled elders' meeting. Then, our Ministry Assistant will schedule a time to present you to our church as a prospective member during one of our Sunday morning services. The members will later vote to affirm you at the next scheduled congregational meeting, which takes place once per quarter.
